Getting the Job Done

Professional Installation Checklist

The following provides some points to consider in making sure the installation is professional and worry-free:

1. Have experienced and qualified people?  
2. Supply references?  
3. Thoroughly inspect your roof?  
4. Inspect all flashings?
Chimney?
Soil Stacks?
Other roof penetrations?
Valleys?
Intersecting roof planes?
 
5. Evaluate existing ventilation?  
6. Ensure that ventilation levels meet Building
Code recommendations?
 
7. Ensure the roof has a proper deck?  
8. Apply shingles according to manufacturer's recommendations?  
9. Replace all flashings, vents, valley metal, etc. which
should be replaced to ensure they will last as long
as the shingles do?
 
10. Offer only quality brand products?  
11. Clearly explain the manufacturer's warranty?
Years of 100% full coverage?
Includes cost of labor?
Replacement cost including tear-off, disposal,
underlayment, flashings?
Full transferability?
Is it in writing?
 
12. Clearly explain the installer's warranty?
Is it in writing?
 
13. Endeavor to clean up the job site as well as possible, including picking up nails, cleaning out flower beds, sweeping walks, and driveways?  
14. Use a recognized/legal waste disposal location?
